Charlie and Judy (Friedemann) Gray celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 10 with family and friends at the home of their daughter.
They were married July 10, 1960, in Salem Lutheran Church, Stillwater.
They have two daughters, Sheryl (Terry) Lyon, Morrison, and Nancy (Steve) Trompler, Stillwater. They have three grandchildren, Kirby and Katie Lyon and James Trompler.
Gray served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964, achieving the rank of airman first class. During his service in the Air Force, the couple live in England; Greenvile, S.C.; and Savannah, Ga. After his honorable discharge in 1964, the couple moved back to Stillwater.
In 1965, he went to work for Oklahoma State University in the food service and animal science departments. For 30 of his 40 years at OSU, he worked at the horticulture and landscape nursery research station. He retired in December 2005. Since his retirement, he enjoys woodworking, gardening and restoring a 1934 Chevy truck.
Mrs. Gray was a homemaker for the first 10 years of their marriage. From 1970 to 1974, she worked part-time for Harold’s Clothing Store in Stillwater. In 1974, she went to work for OSU in the research foundation office, which changed to the Environmental Institute. For 29 of her 31 years at OSU, she worked in the Oklahoma cooperative fish and wildlife research unit. She retired in December 2005.
Since retirement, she enjoys reading, decorating their home for the holidays throughout the year and spending time with their daughters and grandchildren.
