Orin and Genny (Hesser) Snyder

• Snyder

Orin and Genny (Hesser) Snyder celebrated their 65th anniversary.

They were married Nov. 26, 1946, in Winfield, Kan., soon after he returned from the war.

They have one daughter and son-in-law, Karan and Vince Brunken, Glencoe. They have four grandchildren, Gayle Cash and Eric, Moore; Shane Skinner, Stillwater; Tawnie Solpietro, Morrison; and Joshua Skinner, Perry. They have eight great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

They farmed at Perry and later moved to Glencoe. They bought a farm west of Stillwater in 1954 and live there today.

In 1962, Snyder designed a water filtering system from a pond to a filtering system near the house. College students would come out to view and study his system. In 1977, the Snyders built rent houses on their property to rent to college students.

In 1979, Snyder retired from dairying. The Snyders turned the milk barn into an antique shop and traveled all over the United States buying antiques. They sold antiques in Canton, Texas, for 25 years. They traveled many places overseas and said the most interesting place they have been is China.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
