Kay and Donald Exton of Ripley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family luncheon Jan. 26.
A reception was given by the Catholic Stephen Ministers following the luncheon.
The couple married at St. Francis rectory on a cold night, Jan. 26, 1963.
Although the wedding was supposed to be a secret, many close friends were waiting outside the rectory in the cold weather.
The Extons lived in Shawnee, Red Rock and Ft. Collins, Colo. In 1995, they returned to Ripley from Colorado. Donald was an auto bodyman and Kay did electronic assembly. In later years, both worked at Oklahoma State University. Donald has an artistic talent in woodcarving and drawing. They have two children.
Their son, Brother Benet Steve Exton, is at St. Gregory’s Abbey in Shawnee. Their daughter, Donna Holderread and her husband Charles live in Cushing. They have three grandchildren: Robin, Jessica and Jesse.
