— Bob and Janet Vincent of Morrison will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Red Building on Casey Trail in Morrison. Friends are invited to attend.

They were married on July 5, 1964, in the Christ Lutheran Church of Perry. The Vincents lived in Bob’s hometown of Tonkawa as newlyweds and then moved to Ponca City while he served as a teacher and principal from 1966-1975. Then they moved back to Tonkawa to be closer to the family farm and he continued teaching while she worked at Tonkawa High School. In 1980, he went to work as a lab technician for Continental Carbon in Ponca City. Following the farm crisis, the family moved to Janet’s hometown of Morrison in 1983. Bob was disabled in an accident with horses on their farm in 2000 and has been producing Vincent Beef ever since.

When not attending grandchildren’s activities, the Vincents are involved with civic organizations in Morrison including the Lion’s Club where they have been the breakfast cooks for 22 years. They also serve through the American Legion Post and Auxiliary.

Janet was recently named the Oklahoma Homemakers Cooperative Extension Club District Heart of OHCE recognizing outstanding community servants. They both serve as elders in the Morrison Christian Church and Janet serves as the pianist.

Three children were born of their union, sons Bryan in 1966 and Barry in 1969, and daughter Holly in 1972. The couple hosted nine exchange students while living in Tonkawa, the first from Guatemala. Leslie Gil joined the Vincent family in 1977 and has lived in the United States ever since.
