Walter and Doris Scott, Stillwater, will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a reception hosted by their daughters from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall.

They were married July 21, 1950, in Blackland Baptist Chapel in Waco, Texas, where the groom was student pastor.

They have two daughters, Gaye Lynn Scott of Austin, Texas, and Lori Robertson and husband Dr. Glenn Robertson, Cuero, Texas. They have one grandson, Joel Scott Robertson, Los Angeles, Calif.

Scott graduated from Baylor University in Waco in 1949 and completed graduate degrees at Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He earned a doctorate at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and served on the faculty of the Oklahoma State University philosophy, humanities and religion departments from 1960 until his retirement in 1997.

He is active in First Baptist Church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and moderator.

Mrs. Scott graduated in 1949 from Baylor University in Waco, where the couple met. She is active in First Baptist Church women’s work and serves as chairman of the history committee. She is also active in patriotic lineage organizations, in which she has held various local and state offices.
