• Roth

Bob and Marilyn (Nichols) Roth recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family cruise to Key West and the Bahamas.

They were married Oct. 7, 1961, in Muskogee.

For their anniversary, they took a Thanksgiving week cruise from Jacksonville, Fla.

Celebrating with them were their daughter, Robin Roth FitzGerald, and her husband, Michael FitzGerald, of Unionville, Va.; their son, Toby Roth, and his wife, Michelle Roth, of Montgomery, Ala.; and their five grandchildren, Lillian Roth, Caleb FitzGerald, Madeline Roth, Annabel Roth and Erika FitzGerald.

The Roths met in Denver, Colo., in 1960. He was a native of Goodland, Kan., and she was a Muskogee County native.

After graduating from Oklahoma State University, career opportunities took them to Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Alabama, before they settled in Muskogee where their two children were raised and graduated from Muskogee High School.

During their 30 years in Muskogee, the Roths were involved in numerous community organizations and were active members of St. Paul United Methodist Church and later First United Methodist Church.

Roth was a life underwriter with New York Life Insurance Co., retiring in 2005 with the career designations of New York Life 30-year Senior NYLIC and LIFE Member of NYLIC Production Clubs and the industry designation of LIFE Member of the Million Dollar Roundtable.

Mrs. Roth served 11 years as a staff assistant for the Muskogee Women’s Clinic, in addition to her longtime pursuits of tennis, competitive bridge and raising the couple’s children.

The Roths retired to Stillwater in 2005. They are active members of First United Methodist Church and fans of the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Cowgirls.

They regularly travel to Virginia and Alabama to see their children and grandchildren and also enjoy special occasions with the families of Mrs. Roth’s five sisters and two brothers.
