Johnny and DeAnn Hafner

Johnny F. and DeAnn Gay (Koch) Hafner, Orlando, will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children from 2-4 p.m. Saturday in the Orlando Community Building.

They wed May 29, 1964, in Orlando Evangelical United Brethren Church. Their parents were John and Esther Hafner and Sylvan and Alice Koch, all of Orlando.

Their children are Brian Hafner of Tokyo, Japan, and Valerie McDougald and her husband, Jim, of Friant, Calif. They have two grandchildren, Cody McDougald and Kinsey McDougald of Friant.

Hafner worked for Cooperative Extension Service for the first 10 years they were married. He served one year as 4-H agent in Beaver County, six years as a 4-H agent in Stephens County and three years as the County Extension director in Jefferson County. In 1974, they bought a farm and moved back to Orlando where they still live.

Hafner was active in the Oklahoma Simmental Association for many years and raised registered Simmental cattle. He also served several years as the Oklahoma Junior Simmental Association youth adviser. He currently runs a cow/calf operation.

While they lived in Duncan and Waurika, Mrs. Hafner was active in Extension Homemakers Groups serving in local and county offices and served one term on a state committee. After they moved to Orlando, she worked for Oklahoma State University for two years and then started to work for the Oklahoma State ASCS (now FSA) office in Stillwater where she still works. She also served as a local 4-H leader for many years.

They are both active members of Orlando United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hafner serves as treasurer for the church and is active in United Methodist Women’s Group.
