Anniversaries
James and Phyllis Mayberry
James G. and Phyllis Mayberry celebrated their 60th anniversary on Wednesday.
They were married June 10, 1949, in First United Methodist Church in Stillwater before the Rev. McFarrin Stowe.
They have three children, James David and wife Jane, Pauls Valley; Susan Adkison and husband Donald, Tulsa; and Scott and wife Kris, Okmulgee. They have nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mayberry served three years in World War II in the Army Air Force as a flight engineer. He flew in the Berlin Air Lift and other areas in 1946-49. He worked with Exxon Oil Co. as a field engineer and then taught math at Okmulgee Technology.
In 1979, the couple moved to Stillwater, and he worked in the petroleum technology department and with the extension department, presenting oil seminars.
Mrs. Mayberry taught school for several years and was a homemaker.
