Paul and Pauline (Vanlandingham) Rooker celebrated their 65th anniversary on Sept. 5. They married on Sept. 5, 1947, in the pastor’s study at Stillwater First Methodist Church while students at Oklahoma A&M. They met as freshmen at McLoud High School.
Both have bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees from Oklahoma A&M and Oklahoma State University.
The Rookers have five children — Keith and wife Linda Rooker of Uniontown, Pa.; Jill Rooker of Stillwater; Rodney and wife Nina Rooker of Sayre; Jennifer and husband Martin Vojtas of Atlanta, Ga.; and Paula and husband David Russell of Denison, Texas. They have 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson and a great-grandchild due in November.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy near the end of World War II, then taught veteran’s agriculture and farmed and ranched in McLoud. He later served as an assistant county agent in Oklahoma before moving to school administration and counseling at McLoud High School, Oklahoma Baptist University and Gordon Cooper Area Vocational Technical School. Pauline taught home economics, then second grade and finished her career as a reading specialist at McLoud Public Schools.
They enjoy living in Stillwater where they attend most Oklahoma State University sporting events are are very active in the First United Methodist Church; they also enjoy traveling all over the country visiting family and friends.
