STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater Children’s Theatre is gearing up for its second musical of the year with “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at the Stillwater Community Center.
Performances begin Friday with two school showings at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. followed by an evening, public performance at 7 p.m. Another show will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults and can be obtained from a performer or at the door.
“I have 13 kids that are actually performing and a couple of stage crew,” said program Director Amy Guthrie.
The musical will be directed by Amy McQuade and choreographed by Katy Caudle.
Guthrie said some of the main roles have been double cast. She said the two-hour show’s plot is taken directly from the movie and features many of the familiar characters from the “Peanuts” comic strip including Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy, Schroeder, Lucy and Sally.
According to the Stillwater Children’s Theatre website, the musical “tells the story of an average day in the life of 6-year-old Charlie Brown” and friends.
The children’s theatre is partnering with the Stillwater Junior Service League and their annual “Operation Christmas” campaign. Guthrie said she is asking classes and the public to donate a new unwrapped toy. There will be bins outside the theater for donations, she said.
