STILLWATER, Okla. —
Male? Female? Single? Dating? Married? Divorced? Parents?
Town and Gown Theatre’s February production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” runs the gamut.
“I Love You” is a series of vignettes played by three men and three women connected by a central theme of love and relationships. It exposes what many people may want to say about being single, dating, marriage, divorce, and parents.
The musical is not intended for children, but instead offers adults an opportunity to laugh at their own lives in the world of dating and mating.
The story and lyrics were written by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts. DiPietro, a Tony Award winner, was recently lauded for his book and lyrics for the award winning and critically acclaimed Broadway production of “Memphis.”
The show opens Thursday and runs through Feb. 19.
The show is directed by Kyle Shifflett with musical direction by Cody Whittenburg. The orchestra is Gloria Short and Eric Reitan. The cast is Tracy Freeman, Valerie Kisling, Tiara Young, Lincoln Gibbs, Tim Hooker and Jason Kennedy.
Shifflett is assisted by Bill Balcer and Dawn Wilson, with creative photography by Shannon DeYong.
A special wine tasting event will be held for theater patrons Saturday evening, and an opportunity to have a valentine delivered by Cupid will be available at every performance.
