2. Performance selections include Steve Reich’s “Six Marimbas;” a chamber ensemble work, “I Presagi,” by enigmatic Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi; and one of the 20th century’s great masterpieces, Olivier Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time” which was composed during his imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp in World War II.

 3. OSU students studying music including cellist Bree Ahern of Stillwater will perform in the ensemble.

WHY ATTEND?

“This program presents the OSU and Stillwater Community with the opportunity to hear some of the most inspiring, demanding and provocative music composed in the 20th century,” said Michael Kirkendoll, OSU assistant professor of music. “It is a chance to experience a kind of music that is fresh and innovative, combining elements of traditional classical music, ancient sacred music, jazz, and postmodern artistic thought.”
