MUSICIAN'S SPOTLIGHT: Stillwater artist to perform Red Dirt music on Saturday


NAME: Brandon Jackson

FROM: Stillwater

BACKGROUND: Growing in a musical family, Jackson has been singing and performing since he was 5 years old. He came to Oklahoma State University in 1997 and honed his skills on The Strip. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music and business administration from Oklahoma City University in 2000. For the last 11 years, Jackson has worked as a full-time musician, embarking on a solo career in 2009. He released his first solo CD, “The Good Times,” in 2011 and is working on his next album for release soon.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC: Red Dirt/Texas Music

FAVORITE SONGS TO PLAY: Jackson loves playing new original material. Anything that keeps the set fresh always makes it fun for him which he hopes in turn makes it fun for the fans.

NOTABLE: One of Jackson’s most amazing experiences was recording a “Live at Billy Bob’s” album in 2007. He has played in the bands Twelve Pearls and No Justice before forging a solo career. As a performing musician, he has shared the stage with Cross Canadian Ragweed, The All-American Rejects, Robby Krieger of the Doors and many other popular musicians. There are so many great venues where he said he’s been lucky enough to play.
