Band won’t limit itself by musical genre

STILLWATER, Okla. — ABOUT THE ARTISTS

NAME: The Aaron Woods Band

FROM: Stillwater

MEMBERS: Aaron Woods, lead vocals/rhythm guitar; Tylar Callaham, lead guitar; Brodee Nucci-Bass, guitar; Chris Gibby, keyboard, harmonica and second vocals, and Tyler Jimenez, drums

PERFORMS: The band started in 2010 playing its own music which tends to fall under the Oklahoma Red Dirt genre but the band tries not to label the music.

“Good music is good music,” Woods said. “From the very beginning, we have established ourselves as a relentless touring band playing from Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Stillwater, Oklahoma, has been labeled a town where Red Dirt music was born and so many great acts have risen from these streets and we are blessed to be able to continue carrying the torch — spreading good music beyond the Oklahoma borders.”

NOTABLE: The first single off the band’s debut album, “Signal From The South” titled “Hangin’ By The River” reached No. 64 on the Texas Music Charts. The band signed Dec. 1, 2013, with Smith Music Group in Ft. Worth.

FAVORITE PLACE TO PLAY: “Stillwater, because it’s home and we see so many familiar faces. The people that have supported us from the very beginning. Western Kansas has always been great to us as well,” Woods said.

ARTIST QUOTE: “Keep spreadin’ the dirt,” Woods said.
