STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater Arts Festival returns Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Artists from across the state and the nation will display and sell their art. Arts Festival Coordinator Rachel Palmer said artists from Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico, South Dakota and Kansas are among those working the festival.
“We’ve got some brand new artists that I’ve never seen that are new to our show this year,” said Palmer. “I’m personally really excited to see what they’re going to bring to the festival. The new element, the new artwork — just something that we’ve never seen before.”
The artists will offer work in a variety of media including paintings, drawings, sculptures, jewelry, metal and photography.
This marks the 35th anniversary of the event, which will be held on Main Street between Sixth and Ninth avenues.
Entertainment will kick off Friday with five bands taking the stage from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Area restaurants will serve patrons along the sidewalk.
Palmer said the free art show usually draws 10,000 people, rain or shine. The National Weather Service says expect it to shine this weekend. Sunny skies are forecast, with a high in the low 70s Saturday and around 80 Sunday.
Palmer said the event is great for the entire family.
“I think it’s the atmosphere,” she said. “Stillwater is a great town. We work well. The artists are really friendly and it’s really just an all-around good time.”
The art festival is one of a full slate of events during Stillwater’s Legends Weekend.
