1. Director Cindy Sheets said the script reminds her of a classic 1970s sitcom like Three’s Company with a triangle between two out-of-work musicians and one’s fiancé. Written by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, the fast-paced laughs are a cross between “I Love Lucy” and “Some Like it Hot.”
2. Some audience members may get a bit nostalgic about the costumes which reflect the bright colors and “groovy” threads from back in the day with plenty of bell-bottom pants. Set designer Paul Weber and crew members have helped dial back the years, furnishing the “pad” with lava lamps and shag carpet.
3. Town & Gown is a community theater made up of volunteers. In “Love, Sex and the IRS,” hilarious stunts unwind in the theater in the round, creating an up close and personal experience.
“The play demonstrates that relationships can be torn or broken and come back together — the best lesson to learn for Valentine’s,” said Klayton Valega.
