Children’s Choir Camp opens

Children’s Choir Camp attendees will focus on the theme “Global Voices” in this year’s camp, Monday through Friday at the Seretean Center at Oklahoma State University.

Children entering grades 3 through 6 are invited to learn songs and games from Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe and Australia.

The children will accompany some of their songs with African drums, recorders and a variety of percussion instruments. They will also demonstrate games and dances from around the world. The week culminates with a public concert Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The camp will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. daily. The event is sponsored by the Stillwater Arts & Humanities Council, Stillwater Honor Choir and the OSU Music Department.

The choir camp staff includes area music teachers Trish Ranson, Amy Thomas and Joel Jackson, and OSU music education student, Rene Mead.

For information on enrollment, contact Margaret Carroll at 377-8522, or margaret@tri-8.com.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
