Perry's Stagecoach Community Theatre presents 'Foxfire'

PERRY, Okla. — The Stagecoach Community Theatre in Perry is rehearsing for its second production of the season.

“Foxfire,” written by Hume Cronyn and Susan Cooper, has performances 7 p.m. today through Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday  at The Heritage Center at 222 S. 6th in Perry.

Director Bill Bullock said he is overseeing an “incredibly dedicated group.” Bullock said the actors began to rehearse the second week of October.

“This has been actually kind of a short rehearsal period,” said Bullock. “Typically, we’ll take between seven and nine weeks. And this one, we’ve taken about six and a half weeks. So, it’s been kind of a whirlwind to get this one together.”

He said the group took off one day for Thanksgiving.

“Foxfire” tells the story of Appalachian mountain life. The play is based partly on the “Foxfire” book series by Eliot Wigginton.

“It’s got a lot of down home comedy and it’s a very beautiful and poignant story,” said Bullock.

“We’re all so excited, we can hardly sleep,” said Bullock.

Bullock said there is mild adult language, but the play is appropriate for all ages.

“This play, in particular, it’s going to make you laugh, cry and walk away filled with joy,” said Bullock.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for Stagecoach Theatre members.
