Auditions scheduled Sunday for Children’s Operetta Workshop

STILLWATER, Okla. — The Children’s Operetta Workshop enters the 18th season this summer with the classic presentation of “Cinderella.” However, Director Rana McCoy said the traditional tale will have twists no one expects and some great commercials.

“This Cinderella has a castle rapper, beautiful ballroom ladies, singing mice and a fairy godmother named Charlene, the dream machine queen,” McCoy said. “With lots of fun for all, there are some great parts for boys, with no kissing or hand holding.”

Auditions are scheduled in a come and go format in the Stillwater Public Library Room 313 from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday for those in grades 2-7.

“The audition is simple and laid back and will consist of a reading from the script, singing ‘My Country ‘Tis of Thee,’ and any other talent that you would like to share,” McCoy said.

Callbacks are at 3:15 p.m. March 30 with all who have auditioned coming together for a final audition.

Workshop tuition is $99.

“If you are unable to come on March 30, please contact me and we will make other arrangements.” McCoy said. “This is a great workshop for building confidence and poise on stage, as well as having a great time playing out a terrific story for four very anticipating audiences.”

The cast list and script will be given to the cast members by May 15 so they can get to know the character part. Scheduled rehearsals are 1-3 p.m. June 2-6 and Monday with dress rehearsal from 9-11 a.m. June 9. The family performance is 7 p.m. June 9.

Public performances are June 10 at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
