STILLWATER, Okla. — Payne County prosecutors filed felony charges Wednesday against a Stillwater man in two of the 11 armed robbery cases Stillwater Police have been investigating since January. The investigation is ongoing.
Jackson Pascal Rwezaula, 24, is charged with two counts of armed robbery. He is being held in the Payne County Jail on $500,000 bail. Special conditions of bail would force Rwezaula to surrender his passport. Rwezaula will appear in court Friday in Payne County District Court for arraignment.
The first charge concerns a May 17 robbery at Check n' Go. The second involves an April 18 robbery at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. These two robberies are part of a string of 12 police have been investigating since January.
Rwezaula was identified after security camera footage at Check n' Go captured high quality images of the suspect's face.
Police collected evidence from Rwezaula's residence after obtaining a warrant earlier this week. Stillwater Police Capt. Randy Dickerson said evidence is being analyzed by investigators and additional charges are likely to be filed in the coming weeks in relation to the other robberies.
Of the 12 robberies 11 were in Stillwater and one was in Perkins. The suspect, often clad in wigs and disguises, would threaten workers with a handgun and then escape with cash, court records show.
