BREAKING NEWS: Cushing Police make arrest in Maveric Mini Mart Robbery

CUSHING, Okla. — Cushing Police have made an arrest in the Dec. 20 robbery of the Maveric Mini Mart store on Cherry Street.

Sgt. Adam Harp and Chief Tully Folden were conducting a followup interview with Aaron Scott Halencak, 27, of Cushing on Friday in connection with the Mini Mart robbery and Sunday's armed robbery at The Steer Inn in the 1300 block of East Main Street.

According to a police statement, Halencak confessed to the convenience store robbery and an auto burglary in which he stole a gun earlier on Dec. 20.

Halencak was arrested and transported to the Payne County Jail. The police statement said Halencak is being held on complaints of first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm after former felony conviction and second-degree burglary of an automobile. He is being held without bail.

Charges had not been filed in Payne County District Court as of 4 p.m. Friday.

Cushing police continue to follow leads in regard to the Steer Inn robbery.
