BREAKING NEWS: OHP Bomb Squad sweeping Multimodal Center, parking garage

STILLWATER, Okla. — Okahoma HIghway Patrol bomb-sniffing dogs were searching the Oklahoma State University Multimodal Transportation Center and Monroe Street Parking Garage at noon Thursday.

An OSU campus operator received a call at 8:45 a.m. Thursday. The caller said a bomb had been placed at the Multimodal Transportation Center. The operator immediately notified OSU Police dispatch, University Police Chief Mike Robinson said at a noon press conference. The caller was identified as a woman, and the call came from a phone with an Oklahoma area code.

University Police were at the Multimodal Center and Parking Garage by 8:46 p.m. They established a perimeter, kept students and residents away and conducted an initial search, Robinson said. Some students were escorted into the parking garage after the initial search and allowed to remove their cars.

A bomb wasn't found, but the Oklahoma State University Police called in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb dogs and bomb disposal crew.

Oklahoma State University's bus service continued to operate from a temporary terminal.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb-sniffing dogs are conducting a sweep of the parking garage and multimodal center. The bomb disposal unit is on scene in case something is found.

At 10 a.m., university officials sent a campus alert to university faculty, staff and students asking them to stay away from the Multimodal Center and parking garage, University spokesman Gary Shutt said.
