Oklahoma State regents approve $1.17 billion budget

STILLWATER, Okla. — Record enrollment will keep Oklahoma State University undergraduate students from paying more for tuition in the 2013-2014 school year.

Friday, the OSU/A&M Board of Regents approved a $1.17 billion budget for fiscal year 2014. The budget includes $241.1 million in state appropriations, but doesn’t feature a tuition hike for undergraduate students.

Freshman enrollments have increased 40 percent from 2008 to 2012. The fall 2012 freshman class was the largest of any university in state history. The university’s enrollment projections predict increases for at least the next three years due to larger numbers of continuing students, according to the 2014 budget.

“Each year the decision regarding tuition rates is a difficult one,” OSU President Burns Hargis said. “It was important to our regents and the university to provide some much needed financial relief to as many of our students and families as possible. So, I am very pleased to be able to say that in-state undergraduate students will not experience a tuition increase this year.”

Here are the current and proposed per credit-hour tuition costs for the Stillwater campus.

• Undergraduate (resident) $248.05, unchanged

• Undergraduate (nonresident)$648.55, $667.55

• Graduate (resident) $273.55, $278.55

• Graduate (nonresident) $804.55, $828.55
