OSU creates web page in response to SI stories

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State University launched a web page, response.okstate.edu, to address the Sports Illustrated series, “The Dirty Game,” that debuted Tuesday on the SI.com website.

University spokesman said the page will be used to keep media, fans, alumni and the general public updated on Oklahoma State’s official responses to the SI report, and the university’s plans to move forward to investigate and address allegations of misconduct.

“As we have said, we will investigate the accuracy of the allegations and take all appropriate action, OSU President Burns Hargis said. “We do not condone or tolerate improper conduct in our athletic programs.”

The university will hire an independent investigator to review misconduct allegations once the series of stories has been published.

“We take the allegations seriously. Whether they have merit or not, we don’t know, But we will find out,” OSU Vice President of Athletics Mike Holder said.

The Web page includes an area for statements by university officials. It also features an area designated to what others are saying, which compiles  Twitter comments about the series.
