6:30 P.M. UPDATE: Stillwater wildfire out; 40 acres burned

STILLWATER, Okla. — A wildfire burned nearly 40 acres Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Lakeview and Country Club roads, Stillwater Fire Department acting Batallion Chief Capt. Mike Eytcheson said.

Workers were bailing wheat straw when the baler caught fire, Eytcheson said. The fire quickly spread through the wheat field.

The fire call came shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday. The Stillwater Fire Department sent three brush trucks and a command truck to bring the fire under control. The fire department shut down its command post shortly before 5 p.m.

No one was injured. However, one of the brush trucks got a flat tire.
