UPDATE: Stillwater Police confirm 'cash-and-dash bandit' strikes again

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater Police confirmed Saturday that Friday night's armed robbery at the Check 'n Go in the 200 block of North Perkins Road is the work of the cash-and-dash bandit.

The cash-and-dash bandit's robbery spree stands at an even dozen. He has struck 11 times in Stillwater and once in Perkins, according to police reports.

In most of the robberies, the bandit takes cash from the business and flees on foot. In his first robbery, Approved Cash in the 700 block of East McElroy Road, the man took one of the employee's car, which was later recovered a few blocks away. On May 1, he robbed the On Cue in the 1800 block of Sangre Road of cash and cigars. He fled on foot, but police recovered a sweatshirt that apparently had been tossed out of a pickup.

The suspect has hit multiple cash advance and convenience stores in Stillwater. He also has robbed a Stillwater restaurant and a Perkins department store.

He is described as a 5 foot, 10 inch black male, weighing approximately 160 pounds. He wears a variety of disguises to mask his identity.

Stillwater Police released photos that appear to have captured the suspect's face better than previous ones obtained from security camera footage.

The robbery occurred at 211 N. Perkins Rd. at approximately 6:42 p.m. Friday. The suspect was wearing a green wind breaker jacket, aviator sunglasses and a brown cotton mask to cover his mouth. He was armed with a black pistol.

Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot toward the Grove apartment complex.

Stillwater Police have formed a task force to catch the cash and dash bandit. A $5,000 reward still stands for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the serial armed robber. Those with tips can call the Stillwater Police Department at 405-372-4171.
