PERKINS, Okla. — Two Perkins residents died in a Tuesday morning accident approximately 6 miles west of Perkins on State Highway 33.

Sharon Wilson, 62, and Robert Wilson, 63, died when their car collided head-on with a semi. They were pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries, according to a report by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Anthony Harper.

The driver of the semi, Gary Knight Jr, 33, Luling, La., was transported to Stillwater Medical Center where he was treated and released, according to the trooper’s report.

The accident happened at 11:06 a.m. near the intersection of S.H. 33 and Cottonwood Road.

The OHP report states a sports utility vehicle driven by Sharon Wilson was traveling east on S.H. 33 when it crossed the center line for an unknown reason.

Knight’s semi was traveling west on the highway. He swerved to avoid the accident, but the semi and SUV collided head-on. After impact, the SUV caught fire, while the semi left the highway, jackknifed and rolled on its side.
