STILLWATER, Okla. — On Nov. 22, Janna and John Boyer turned their favorite vacation treats into a chocoholic’s dream in downtown Stillwater.
The Boyers brought a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store and its hand-dipped chocolate-covered apples, cherries, Oreos and marshmallows, varieties of nut brittles, gourmet truffles and Blue Bell ice cream to 714 S. Main St.
It’s the second Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory franchise the Stillwater couple has opened. The first was in Murfreesboro, Tenn. It’s managed by their daughter and her husband.
The Boyers are well-known in the Stillwater business community.
John Boyer is owner of Boyers 66, 524 S. Main St., and the couple owns J & J Superwash, a car and dog wash, on Sangre Road across from Meridian Technology Center. They’re also cattle ranchers.
The pair graduated from Oklahoma State University in the mid-1970s. John played football for OSU and earned an agribusiness degree. Janna received her degree in early childhood education and was a schoolteacher. The couple decided to stay in Stillwater after graduation and raised a family of four here.
They discovered Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory stores during summer vacations in Colorado.
“We looked forward to going to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for the past 20 years,” Janna Boyers said. “We loved the products offered at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.”
She said the couple loved the treats so much they located a franchise in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where their daughter, another OSU graduate, lives and works. It’s managed by their daughter.
It didn’t take too long for the Boyers to decide downtown Stillwater was ready for a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store.
