By all accounts, sophomore quarterback Blake Bell is having a good preseason camp and could surpass Drew Allen as the No. 2 quarterback.
The only way Bell can do that is with his arm. The Sooners have no interest in making the short-yardage package Bell runs into an every-down offense.
Bell didn't exactly thrive throwing the ball last season. He completed just 1 of 4 passing attempts with an interception. His passing efficiency rating was minus 8.20.
