Shinn at 3 p.m.: Oklahoma secondary largely unproven

NORMAN — Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops admitted on Tuesday the depth of Oklahoma's secondary isn't where he'd like it to be.

Outside of cornerbacks Demontre Hurst and Aaron Colvin, safety Tony Jefferson and nickelback Gabe Lynn there isn't much game experience.

"We’ve got guys, but a lot of them aren’t proven players," he said. "I don’t know a lot of people who can go two-deep with depth that’s played winning, championship football. We have to develop it, and hopefully we’ll have a chance to develop it throughout the first part of the season."

The first part of the season is specifically the Sept. 1 season opener at UTEP and OU's Sept. 8 home opener against Florida A&M. Look for the Sooners to play a lot defensive backs in those games.
