Shinn at 3 p.m.: Stoops talks about BCS formula

CNHI News Service

OSKALOOSA, Iowa —

The Associated Press Top 25 will be released on Saturday.

It is the one major poll that is not involved in the BCS formula. The USA Today Top 25 (coaches) and Harris poll are the two human components still involved in the formula.
OU coach Bob Stoops votes in the coaches poll, but is on record as saying it probably shouldn't be part of the process because coaches lack objectivity.
"In the end, I felt they made a mistake when they reduced the one poll that doesn’t have any bias. They devalued those," he said.
There's still a computer component to the BCS formula. Several years ago the computer average was reduced from half of the formula to one-third.
