Cowboy baseball players McCurry, Fish earn All-American honors

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s Brendan McCurry and Zach Fish each collected All-America honors today, with McCurry named to the NCBWA All-America First Team and the Baseball America All-America Second Team and Fish garnering third-team All-America honors from Baseball America.

McCurry capped his two-year OSU career with a standout senior season as the Cowboys’ closer. The right-hander set a school record with 35 appearances and was 5-0 with 19 saves and a 0.38 ERA. He racked up 54 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings and allowed just two runs.

The 19 saves shattered the previous school record of 10, and McCurry also set the program’s career saves mark with 27.

An All-Big 12 Conference First Team selection and the NCBWA District VI Co-Player of the Year, McCurry has been named a 2014 All-American by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America and the NCBWA. He is the 22nd player in OSU baseball history to earn first-team All-America honors from either the American Baseball Coaches' Association, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball or The Sporting News.

Fish’s junior season saw him earn Big 12 Player of the Year honors and a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team for the second-straight year.

Spending most of his time as the Cowboys’ right fielder, Fish hit .308 and led OSU with 11 home runs, 17 doubles and a .517 slugging percentage. He was second on the club in hits (74) and RBIs (48).

Fish previously earned third-team All-America honors from Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball.
