As has been mentioned in several articles earlier this year, we’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of our sister cities affiliation with Kameoka this year.

People who have served on our Sister Cities Council have worked hard to make our program successful, but even so, the program must have the support of city hall and the mayor to be successful. So we thank those at city hall and our mayors who have served through the 25 years for their support.

Calvin Anthony was mayor at the time of the original signing. Next to serve was the late Mike Henson, who was followed by Terry Miller. Following Terry in office was former mayor Mike Henson, who passed away while serving. Larry Brown, vice mayor at the time, completed Mike’s term and another full term.

Next to serve our community was Bud Lacy. And Bud was followed by Roger McMillian. After completing his term, Roger was followed by our present mayor, Nathan Bates.

If the mayor of a city in another country visits a sister city in this country and is not welcomed by the mayor of the U.S. city that sister cities relationship will have a very difficult time succeeding. Support by the mayor is vital, so again, to each who has served our community as mayor, we thank you for your support while in office as well as through the years following your time in office.
