The Glencoe Board of Education will discuss and possibly vote on admending school board policy to reflect changes in the notification dates for re-employing certified staff durings its 6:30 p.m. Monday meeting.
The board will also reorganize and discuss hiring Steven F. Cundiff for the annual audit.

The Agra Board of Education is expected to hire bus drivers and cafeteria workers at its 7 p.m. Monday meeting in the board room of the administrative office, 112 S. Main in Agra.

Langston University students offered textbook rental option
Beginning this fall, Langston University students will be able to rent some textbooks for a semester rather than purchasing them.

UPDATE: Stillwater teacher named finalist for State Teacher of the Year
The Oklahoma State Department of Education announced Friday Stillwater High School family and career sciences teacher Fran Stellman is one of 12 finalists for the title. Stellman was named the Stillwater School District’s Teacher of the Year in April.

Stillwater school board renews insurance policy
The district will renew its policy with Chandler Insurance Managers, a Chandler-based firm, the board decided Tuesday. Phillip Storm, the district’s chief financial officer, said the district will see a 10 percent increase in its insurance premiums. Additionally, the district’s wind and hail damage deductible will be increasing from $5,000 to $50,000.

Meridian hosts nanotechnology camp
Meridian Technology Center is hosting a nanotechnology camp for high school students. The camp is in its first year, and is one of four in Oklahoma. The camp ends Friday.

Stillwater school officials propose budget cuts
Stillwater school district officials proposed about $2.6 million budget cuts that included eliminating 18 teacher positions and 10 support staff positions. The cuts would help to offset a $228 million shortfall of funds brought on by a combination of reduced revenue, reduced state appropriations and increased costs on certain mandatory expenses, including insurance premiums.
