STILLWATER, Okla. —
Tuesday, voters across the area can go to the polls to decide school board elections, the extension of the Payne County 3/8 cent sales tax and the primaries for two special elections.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but voters should double-check to see if their precincts have changed since the 2010 federal census as part of a required redistricting process to reflect new population distribution.
Tuesday will also be the first election since a new voter identification law went into effect in November. That law requires voters to show an ID issued by the federal, state or tribal governments that includes their name as it appears in the precinct registry, a photo and a valid expiration date. According to the law, voter registry cards issued by county election boards are also acceptable.
