Summer problems include air conditioning and bees

By Laura Wilson

STILLWATER, Okla. — What a week for the air conditioning to go out.

First, the AC went out at work. As that was being fixed, the AC at home went out, although that was at least just before it cooled down a bit.

Of course, cooling down is relative. Ninety-five degrees is cool when it’s been up to 108. Cooler, anyway. It was nice to walk outside and not feel as though I were going to melt instantly.

Temps are supposed to go back up this weekend, though, and stay up for a while — the foreseeable future, I’m guessing, but I’m a pessimist.

The good news about weather this hot and not very much rain is that the grass isn’t growing so much, and what is there isn’t as thick. Last time I mowed the lawn I had to go over each pass twice because the grass was so thick.

Anyway, the air conditioners are all fixed — and will stay that way, I hope — but today, as we were leaving the house after lunch, my husband looked up and said, “Are those bees on the house?”

It really is always something, isn’t it?
