Perry Farmers' Market 6-30-10

STILLWATER, Okla. — Along with fresh produce, Perry Farmers’ Market also offers a variety of special treats.

Dawn and J.P. Page offer homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, small fruit pies and specialty breads such as zucchini and banana. They attend farmers’ markets in Pawnee, Ponca City and Perry. They are licensed by the state and do all their baking in a board-certified bake kitchen.

Kelly Casey offers 100 percent grass fed beef. The Angus beef is bred, born and raised on the Casey farm. It is lower in fat and calories and higher in omega-3 fatty acids and beta carotene. The Caseys also offer quarter or sides of beef through special orders.

The newest vendor is Red Earth D’Signs with the official Perry Farmers’ Market bag. These are heavy canvas bags with plenty of room for shopping convenience.

Now that more and more fresh items are being offered, Bill and Diana Simon have started shopping the market themselves to offer a larger variety of food. When available, they purchase fresh corn on the cob and cook it there on the trailer, along with fresh potatoes and possibly squash in the future.

Even though most vendors are sold out by noon the Simons’ stay later to catch the lunch crowd. They also offer slabs of ribs by special order.
