Oklahoma State alum bikes across the country for cause

Scott Poindexter rides to bring light to obesity epidemic

STILLWATER, Okla. — Scott Poindexter is bicycling across America. His journey started in San Francisco, Calif., and he will be wrapping it up in Washington, D.C. Poindexter is pedaling to bring awareness to the "obesity epidemic".

"It's affected my family greatly and I see the devastating effect," said Poindexter. "The side effects of carrying around fat ... is devastating to the human body."

Poindexter's trip brought him back to his alma mater Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. The NewsPress talked with him about his experiences, the people he's met and his goals with his ride across the United States. For more on Poindexter's journey see Wednesday's Stillwater NewsPress.
