School season is here and we’ll be back to our old routines in no time. Don’t forget your fresh, local grown vegetables.
As we say at the market, our produce didn’t travel 1,200 miles to get here. Our produce must be grown in Payne, Lincoln, Noble, Pawnee or Creek counties.
Items to look forward to are apples, Brussels sprouts, cantaloupe, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, okra, onions, peppers, soybeans, squash, tomatoes, watermelons, fresh herbs potted herbs, other bedding plants, lavender items, goat milk lotions and soaps, bison meat, jellies, Southwest cuisine, soups, breads and more.
Stillwater Farmers’ Market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 29 in Strickland Park, 309 N. Main.
Cherry Tomato and Herb Quick Stir Fry
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon butter
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bunch of green onions, sliced thinly
1 pound assorted cherry tomatoes
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped basil or dill or Italian parsley
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil. Saute garlic and onions for a few seconds. Add tomatoes.
Using wooden spoon, stir tomatoes back and forth until tomatoes are hot and a few are starting to crack (about 3 minutes). Quickly add salt and pepper. Toss in herb and stir to disperse herb onto tomato, onion and garlic.
Serve immediately.
