Panthers sneak past Horns

GLENCOE, Okla. —  The Glencoe Panthers scored five in the bottom of the fifth to defeat the Dover Longhorns 5-3.

After four scoreless innings, Nathan Melton led off the fifth with a single and Taylor Cavett followed with a single. Jake Lazenby put Glencoe on the board with a RBI double scoring Melton. Claytin Beaver walked to load the bases. Hunter Hall delivered a two-RBI single. Sean Smith drove in two more runs on a force play.

Melton pitched a complete game and earned the win with a 13 strikeout performance. The Panthers (18-8) wrap up the regular season at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Pawnee. On Thursday, Glencoe travels to Barnsdall for districts where it will battle Barnsdall and Rejoice Christian for a spot in the regional tournament.

Perkins-Tryon splits doubleheader with Bethel, Perry

PERRY — The Perkins-Tryon Demons lost to Bethel 7-1 and beat Perry 6-4.

The Demons didn’t score until the final inning against Bethel. Austin Nietenhoefer took the loss.

Against Perry, Ryan Richards drove in two runs. Alex Dougan and Matt Wiatt also drove in runs. Tanner Bane earned the win with an eight strikeout performance.

Offensively for Perry, Cole Ingram homered and Weston Ward doubled. Josh Decker and Logan Lewis also drove in runs. Decker took the loss on the mound.
