Perry pounces Pawnee, 43-14

PERRY, Okla. — The Perry Maroons clinched a spot in the playoffs, beating Pawnee 43-14.

Senior running back Austin Allen and junior quarterback Kale Hixon were named co-players of the game. Allen had two touchdowns for the Maroons (5-4, 3-2 in district) and Hixon had three. The Perry defense also shined, sacking the Pawnee quarterback four times.

For the Black Bears (1-8, 0-6), Trey Elston had 10 carries for 43 yards and Nicolet Browning rushed for 23 yards, but it wasn’t enough to pull out the win.

Regardless of next week’s outcome against Newkirk, Perry will be in the playoffs. The Maroons wait to see if they will be in the third or fourth position going in.



Carney 50, Kremlin-Hillsdale 28

KREMLIN — Halftime was a turning point for Carney in Friday night’s game against Kremlin-Hillsdale.

The game was tied at 28 at halftime, but Carney (5-4, 4-3) bucked up in the second half and shut out Kremlin-Hillsdale (2-7, 2-5).

Carney head coach Mark Davis said his team played better in the second half.

“We dominated them with our run game and defense in the second half,” Davis said.

With the win, Carney’s playoff hopes are still alive. Next Friday, the Bulldogs play Bluejacket in their last regular season game. Carney will likely need to win in order to advance to the playoffs.



Morrison 46, Foyil 20

FOYIL — Morrison played a solid game against Foyil.

The Wildcats (8-1, 6-0) did not allow Foyil (1-8) to get on the board in the first half, taking a 38-0 lead into the locker room. Freshman Jordan Quinata and junior Scott VanDorn had quick touchdowns at the start of the game.

Next week, Morrison will travel to play Kiefer with the winner claiming the district championship.



Hominy 30, Yale 14

YALE — The Yale Bulldogs took another loss, this time at the hands of Hominy (4-5, 3-2).

The Bulldogs (5-4, 3-3) didn’t get on the board until near the end of the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Konner Fowler had a 10-yard scoring run. Fowler also scored another touchdown with 8 seconds left in the game.

“We need a better run defense next week,” head coach Craig Ellis said.

Next week, Yale plays Regent Prep.



Coyle 15, Riverfield Country Day 0

COYLE — Riverfield Country Day forfeited a district game against Coyle, (7-2, 7-1). Riverfield did not have enough players. It will go down as a 15-0 victory for the Bluejackets.
