LAWTON, Okla. —
Stillwater High didn’t have an answer for Lawton Eisenhower’s 6-foot-9, 225 pound center D’Andre Wright, Pioneers coach Michael Davis said Friday night.
The Pioneers (9-3) dropped a 52-42 decision. Tyler Holcomb led the Stillwater scoring attack with 18 points. Holcomb went 3 for 16 from the field, but hit all 11 of his free throws. Holcomb was the only SHS player in double figures.
“Their 6-9 guy was good. We could not do a whole lot with him,” Davis said. “You have to give Lawton Ike credit. ... They are a good team.”
Lady Pioneers win
Stillwater High school girls basketball coach Carl Treat has been waiting for someone besides LaNesha Middleton to step up for the Lady Pioneers.
On Friday, junior Austyn Iven finally answered the call, scoring 20 points in the Lady Pioneers’ 57-43 victory over Lawton Eisenhower.
“She was able to get a run out and knock down a couple of 3-pointers,” Treat said. “Really, we shot the ball well as a team. I think we were at or around 50 percent.”
Middleton added 19 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, while Blake Bulard scored 10 points for the Lady Pioneers (7-5).
