Glencoe remains undefeated, Coyle keeps Carney winless

STILLWATER, Okla. — MORRISON — The Glencoe boys continued their winning streak with an 86-50 win against Morrison on Friday night, improving their winning streak to 11 games.

Glencoe coach John Lazenby said the team has a better defense this season and players who can score.

The leading scorer for Morrison was Kyle Collins with 22 points.

Ty Lazenby, Jake Lazenby, Hunter Hall and Kagen Castlebury each scored in double digits against Morrison.

“Those four players are all averaging double digits in each game,” John Lazenby said.

Glencoe is averaging 84 points a game and only giving up an average of 45 this season. The Panthers will take on Covington-Douglas on Tuesday.

Coyle 87, Carney 26

COYLE — Coyle jumped out with a big lead in the first quarter and kept up the pace to beat Carney.

Coyle coach Josh Sumrall said his team got into basketball shape during Christmas break.

“We played more up-tempo and got up on them in the first quarter,” Sumrall said.

Tony Aska led the Bluejackets (8-3) with 35 points.

Coyle will play Davenport on Tuesday while Carney (0-10) travels to play Oilton.

Woodland 57, Frontier 55

WOODLAND — The Frontier Mustangs suffered a tough loss against Woodland.

Despite senior Landon Norman’s 28 points, one basket kept them from a victory.

Frontier coach Bob Weckstein said they are not happy but that is the way it goes.

“It is good for Woodland and bad for us,” said Weckstein, whose team fell to 2-10.

The Mustangs are a young team with only one senior starter.

“Hopefully they learn from the experience,” Weckstein said. “Nothing can replace experience.”

Weckstein said he hopes for a better game against Pawnee on Monday.

Morrison 73, Glencoe 59

MORRISON — A weak defense for both teams led to a high-scoring game and a win for Morrison.

Morrison turned the ball over 29 times, while Glencoe coach Stephen Castlebury said his team had 24 turnovers.

“Both teams had a lot of turnovers which led to a lot of easy baskets,” Castlebury said. “It was a tougher game.”

Kelsey Castlebury led Glencoe (5-2) with 28 points.
