STILLWATER, Okla. — The Stillwater Lady Pioneers’ advantage on the glass led to a 51-40 victory over the Durant Lady Braves in the consolation semifinals of the East Central Oklahoma Classic.

“We out-rebounded them by 10 and because of that we got 10 extra shots,” coach Carl Treat said.

Stillwater grabbed the lead early and led by double digits most of the second half. Treat said his team did better offensively.

“We made layups,” Treat said. “They made a run late but we were able to make our free throws in the end.”

Austyn Iven led the team in scoring with 20. Lauren Stettnisch contributed 14. The Lady Pioneers face tournament host Ada in the consolation finals at 1 p.m. Saturday.

BOYS

Coyle 64, Wichita 50

MULHALL — The Bluejackets pulled away in the second quarter to advance to the championship of the Mulhall-Orlando Tournament with a 64-50 victory over the Warriors.

Coyle led 12-11 after the first but outscored Wichita 18-4 to lead 30-15 at halftime. The Bluejackets had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures, led by Tony Aska with 19.

“That’s what makes us hard to guard,” coach Josh Sumrall said. “Anyone in my top six can score in double figures.”

The Bluejackets (11-3) face Garber at 6:40 p.m. Saturday

Frontier 67, Copan 28

MORRISON — The Mustangs put themselves back on the winning side with a 67-28 victory over the Hornets to advance to the consolation championship of the Mike Kerr Classic.

“It was good for them,” coach Bob Weckstein said. “It was good to get a win.”

Frontier grabbed the lead from the get-go and kept building it. The Mustangs led 35-14 at halftime. Landon Norman led the team in scoring with 20 points. Jason Ratliff and Talon Harris also reached double digits with 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Mustangs (3-12) face the Morrison Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Frontier beat Morrison 63-40 in the second round of the Frontier Shootout last December. Weckstein said his opponent isn’t the same team.

“They are a much better team,” Weckstein said.

Morrison 63, Afton 38

MORRISON — A strong fourth quarter carried the Wildcats past the Eagles in a 63-38 victory.

“They started pressing to get back in the game but we were able to break it and get easy baskets,” coach Cory Bales said.

One of the stars of the quarter was Justin Berry who scored 11 points on 3 3-pointers and a field goal. Berry finished the game with 17. Jordan Quinata led the team with 19.

The game was tied at 16 after the first and Morrison held a 28-27 lead at halftime. The Wildcats (5-6) pulled out to a 37-30 lead after three.

Perry 59, Guymon 45

ENID —After falling to Fairview on Thursday, the Perry Maroons redeemed themselves with a 59-45 victory over Guymon.

The Maroons will play for the consolation prize Saturday against Chisholm.

Glencoe 86, Vanoss 52

EARLSBORO —A high scoring game by Glencoe led them to a 86-52 win against Vanoss.

The Panthers jumped out to a 24-8 lead in the first quarter. Ty Lazenby led the team with 41 points, and Jake Lazenby contributed 15 points.

On Saturday Glencoe will play the winner of the game between Vernon and Asher.

Ripley 45, Quapaw 65

YALE — The Walking F. Ranch Classic is not going as expected for Ripley, who faced their second loss Friday against Quapaw, 65-45.

The Warriors fell behind in the first quarter and trailed 15-26 going into the second half. The team was led by Dexter Ladd and Garrett Gosney, each with 11 points.

Ripley will play Liberty on Saturday.

Perkins-Tryon 59, Bridge Creek 23

BETHEL — Perkins-Tryon played a strong game against Bridge Creek, winning 59-23.

The Demons got a big head start in the first quarter, leading their opponent 16-4. Cody Wait led with 9 points, and Travis Cotton contributed 8.

P-T will play in the consolation game Saturday against Newcastle.

GIRLS

Pawnee 58, Afton 31

MORRISON — The Lady Black Bears started fast and didn’t let up in a 58-31 victory over the Lady Eagles.

“We shot the ball well and played a good game,” coach Jeff Tatum said. “Afton was scrappy but we jumped out early.”

Pawnee led 17-1 at the end of the first and expanded it to 34-9 at halftime. Lauren Bynum led the Lady Black Bears with 18 points. Natalie Jensen contributed 14. Pawnee plays Frontier for the championship 7 p.m. Saturday.

“Frontier looked really sharp tonight,” Tatum said. “They played really good defense against Morrison. Hopefully we can come back and play like we did the other night.”

Oklahoma Bible Academy 47, Yale 44

YALE — The Lady Bulldogs came up just short against the Lady Trojans in a 47-44 loss in the consolation semifinals of the Walking F. Ranch Classic.

“We missed a lot of easy shots at the end of the game,” coach Kevin Shellhorse said.

Yale (4-5) led 13-10 after the first quarter but only led by one at halftime. OBA tied the game at 28 after the third. Lexi Huff led the team with 22 points. The Lady Bulldogs play for seventh place at noon Saturday.

Perkins-Tryon 70, Bridge Creek 38

BETHEL — The Perkins-Tryon Lady Demons defeated Bridge Creek 70-38 at the CD Warehouse Tournament.

The victory advances them to play Heritage Hall at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Ripley 46, Quapaw 35

YALE — Ripley’s 46-35 victory over Quapaw will send them to the championship game.

The Lady Warriors were up by only 3 points going into the second half. Led offensively by Kylie Ladd who scored 20 points, Ripley increased the point spread.

Ripley will play Preston in the final game of the tournament on Saturday.

Depew 44, Agra 22

DAVENPORT — The Lady Bear Cats weren’t able to handle the Lady Hornets in a 44-22 loss in the semifinals of the Davenport Tournament.

“We played well for about a quarter and a half.

Agra trailed 7-6 after the first and 16-9 at halftime. Depew put the game away in the third, outscoring the Lady Bear Cats 20-5. Agra plays Davenport for third place at 4 p.m. Saturday.
