Lazenby's high scoring night carries Glencoe past Shidler

STILLWATER, Okla. — Jake Lazenby entered the season with big shoes to fill for the Panthers as his brother John, an all-stater graduated last season. Last Friday, against Shidler, Lazenby shot lights out as he scored 28 points in a 102-60 victory.

“He was 20 points of our offense,” Lazenby said of his older brother. “We need someone to do that.”

Coach John Lazenby said Jake is a good shooter adding he’s improved his game by looking for higher quality shots.

“He’s putting the ball on the floor and driving to the rim,” coach said. “It’s led to more opportunities at the free throw line.”

Jake said he was feeling good and was confident with is shot.

“My teammates made good passes and gave me great looks at the basket,” Lazenby said.

Jake said driving to the basket has made him a better basketball player.

“I’ve always been able to shoot the three,” Lazenby said. “I knew to be a better player, I had to add something to my game.”
