Frontier senior Gum's scoring leads Frontier to victory over Glencoe

STILLWATER, Okla. — Frontier’s Jalissa Gum was a leader for the Lady Mustangs in the pitching circle in the fall. On the basketball court for the defending state champions, it’s no different as her 14 points helped Frontier knock off Glencoe 71-45 on Nov. 21.

Coach Clay Stephens said Gum is the starting point guard and doesn’t necessarily look for her to score.

“She shot the ball a lot better this season than last season,” Stephens said. “We don’t really need her to score. She does so many other things for us and sets others up to score.”

Against the Lady Panthers, Gum was one of three players in double figures, with Bethany Childs and Sydney Pappan each scoring 11.

Honorable Mentions

Drake McEntire, Agra

McEntire led the Bearcats in scoring with 17 points in their 61-28 victory over Oilton on Nov. 21. McEntire has led the team in scoring all season.

Bethany Childs, Frontier

Childs scored 11 points to help the Lady Mustangs to their first victory of the season, 71-45 over Glencoe on Nov. 21. Childs also played a key role on the Lady Mustangs’ softball team.

Jessica Hutchinson, Glencoe

Though her team lost, Hutchinson led the Lady Panthers’ offense with 12 points. Hutchinson hopes to provide leadership to a Glencoe squad that only returns three players from last season.

Kelsey Castlebury, Glencoe

Castlebury was the second leading scorer with 11 points for the Lady Panthers against the Frontier Lady Mustangs on Nov. 21. Castlebury combined with Hutchinson to score 23 of Glencoe’s 45 points.
