Stillwater High baseball claims Class 6A title

NORMAN, Okla. — The Stillwater High School baseball team grabbed the Class 6A championship trophy Saturday afternoon following a 6-0 victory over Tulsa Bishop Kelley.

First year coach Jimmy Harris said, "It had been 57 years since we won this. It was a lot of fun."

Stillwater senior pitcher Nick Hollman went 6 1/3 innings, giving up just one hit and striking out five.. Gunner Black came on in relief to record the final two outs.

Outfielder Tyler Burnett blasted a bases-loaded triple in the third inning to help Stillwater build a 6-0 lead.

Stillwater (32-4) defeated Jenks, 3-2, in eight innings in the semifinals Friday. The Pioneers downed Edmond North, 7-2, in the quarterfinals.

It's the first high school baseball championship for Stillwater High since the 1957 team won the crown. The Stillwater High School wrestling and swimming teams also captured a state titles this year.
