Coyle graduate Weathers plays in All-Star football game

STILLWATER, Okla. — Coyle High School graduate Ryan Weathers played his fifth and final All-Star high school game this year when he participated in the Eight-Man All-Star Football Game, the culmination of Eight-Man Football Week, June 18-22, held at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M CollegeMiami.

During half-time ceremonies at the game, he was one of eight players awarded a plaque and a $1,000 college scholarship by the Oklahoma Eight-Man Football Coaches Association.

Weathers has been fortunate this year to participate in other sports as well in the All-Star area including basketball and baseball.  Other All-Star games in which Weathers was selected to play this spring were the Class A Conference All-Star Baseball Game held at Coyle, Class B Conference All-Star Basketball Game at Coyle, the Oklahoman's Little All-City All Star Basketball Game held at Redlands College in El Reno and the OCO/OBCA Class B vs. Class A All-Star Basketball Game at Oklahoma Baptist University.

His high school coaches were Shane Weathers, football, and Josh Sumrall, basketball and baseball. Weathers credits his coaches and his teammates for much of his success, noting that the Coyle football team has gone to the state playoffs the last three years, the basketball team made it to the finals of the Class B State Tournament in 2013 and to the consolation finals of the Class B Area Tournament in 2014. The baseball team won Class A District Tournament and went to the Regional Tournament this year.

Weathers, valedictorian of his 2014 graduating class, will attend Northern Oklahoma College at Tonkawa, where he will also play baseball. He then plans to complete his baccalaureate degree in business at Oklahoma State University. He is the son of Shane and Julie Weathers of Coyle and the older brother of Jared and Brendon Weathers.
