Coyle boys capture win over Carney

CARNEY, Okla. — The Coyle Bluejackets gained an early lead and protected it throughout the game in a 58-45 win against Carney.

Carney had a tough time trying to catch up with Coyle’s 13-point lead from the first half. The Bulldogs trimmed Coyle’s lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Bluejackets 12-8. Coyle (6-8) put another 30 points on the scoreboard in the second half and held Coyle to 26.

Lanie Noble put up 18 points for Coyle and Chaz Newton added 14. Carney was led by Dalton Graham with 15 points and Alex Perry with 11.

The Bulldogs will play in the Paden Tournament on Thursday. Coyle will go up against Oklahoma Christian School at 8:20 p.m. Thursday in the Cashion Tournament.

GIRLS

COYLE 67, CARNEY 20


CARNEY — Coyle defeated Carney in a high-scoring game for the Lady Bluejackets.

The Lady Bluejackets (10-4) ended the first quarter with a 12-point lead. In the second, Coyle scored 24 and held Carney to two points. Coyle outscored the Lady Bulldogs 13-3 in the third quarter. Carney fought back in the fourth quarter with nine points, but Coyle came away with the win.

Shilah Young and Tyra Aska each put up 17 points for the Lady Bluejackets. Carney was led offensively by Jaylee Graham with 10 points.

Carney will play in the Paden Tournament on Thursday. Coyle faces Oklahoma Christian School at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Cashion Tournament.

GLENPOOL 37, CUSHING 31

CUSHING — The Cushing Lady Tigers fell at home in a back-and-forth game against Glenpool.

The game was tied after the first quarter but Cushing only scored two points in the second, allowing Glenpool to take the lead by 11 points. Cushing started the second half strong, outscoring Glenpool 16-5 in the third quarter. Glenpool outscored the Lady Tigers 10-4 to end the game.

Karlie Jones was the leading scorer for Cushing with 13 points. Brooke Hightower also contributed six. The Lady Tigers will host Bristow at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

AGRA 43, OILTON 34

AGRA — After trailing throughout the first half, Agra ended the game with a victory against Oilton.

Oilton outscored the Lady Bearcats (7-8) by two points in the first quarter. Agra was still down by one at halftime. In the third quarter, Agra turned the tables and gained a four-point lead. Agra increased the point spread to nine in the fourth.

The Lady Bearcats were led by Layla Hutchinson with 15 points and Jolene Morse with 10. Agra will play in the Paden Tournament on Thursday.

BOYS

AGRA 62, OILTON 30


AGRA — The Agra Bearcats more than doubled Oilton’s score in a victory at home.

Agra (7-8) took a 15-point lead in the first quarter and built on it in the second. The Bearcats were up 36-10 at halftime.

Dalton James led with 29 points for the Bearcats. Agra will play in the Paden Tournament on Thursday.

CUSHING 70, GLENPOOL 41

CUSHING — The Tigers played one of their best games of the season in a rout over the Warriors on Tuesday.

“We jumped out on them early,” coach David Day said. “The kids are starting to get a better understanding and are figuring things out. ... We had our best game offensively and defensively.”

Cushing (5-6) jumped out to a 13-1 lead in the first quarter and increased its lead to 19 at halftime. The Tigers held Glenpool’s starters to eight points in the first half. Drew Wilson led all scorers with 19 points. Levi Herren followed with 16.

The Tigers won’t play again until Tuesday when they host Bristow at 8 p.m.
