STILLWATER, Okla. — Three seniors will hit their home mats for the final time during the regular season.

Stillwater will host Perry Tuesday for Senior Night. Not only does Stillwater and Perry have a seasoned past in wrestling but this year the two teams come into the night as top ranked teams. The Pioneers are No. 1 in Class 6A and Perry is No. 1 in Class 3A.

“Perry and Stillwater is always a good dual and it’s always competitive. This year it’s going to be quite a battle,” Stillwater coach Doug Chesbro said. “We want to take advantage of getting to wrestle a quality team at home.”

Stillwater will start three seniors on the varsity squad.

Benny Teegarden has been a part of the Stillwater wrestling team for all four of his high school years.

“I really respect those kids that have been here all four years,” Chesbro said.

Chandler Rogers is in his first and last year in the program but has had loads of success and is already a big part of the team.

“It didn’t take long for him to become a part of our team and a leader of our team. He has accepted everything we’ve asked him to do. He enjoys being here and being on this team,” Chesbro said.

James Brower, heavyweight, has been seen after Stillwater home duals with a whip at the end of the dual. Brower whips it around shouting Pioneers as the whip makes a loud boom.

“James Brower wrestled in junior high and didn’t wrestle for a few years and decided to come back. What a great addition he’s been to our team,” Chesbro said.

The senior group will be sent off in a sea of blue. Stillwater will have a blue out night to celebrate the senior bunch.

“All three of those (seniors) are going to definitely be missed. I’m really proud of this group of kids,” Chesbro said.
